Increasing Student Motivation Guide - How To Increase student motivation techniques PART 1
I am not going to tell you University research studies on how to motivate students, what I want to tell you is how to motivate students from the perspective of one of them, I was a student not long ago and know how they react at school and the classroom.
Usually in school, teachers and directors use external incentives to generate motivation in students. For example, if the student does not study he will get a low test score, if the student has a high grade he is rewarded with extra points or something else, if the student expose the best investigation he will exempt the exam. Those are external motivators and work well in the short term in a percentage of the students.
However, usually most students are not going to get really motivated just by incentives and rewards and if they do, they will not want to learn anymore after the reward has been given.So the best way to maintain a student motivated is with internal motivation, that means that the motivation has to come from the inside out, he needs to have a genuine interest in the topic, but how to you achieve this?
Is not easy to create internal motivation in all students but you can apply some exercises and techniques to help you.
