For the last decade, public schools have debated much on whether they will offer or continue offering a music class. What some schools don't know is that kids who were not able to have a music class in their early years of education are at a disadvantaged position when they enter college. This is because a music class is able to stimulate the other part of the brain not used in regular classes like math and science. A music class develops a child's creativity and provides him the means to exercise both sides of the brain. It is not ideal to just constantly use one side of the brain. A child's full potential is achieved when he or she learns how to use the brain in its entirety. Studies have revealed that taking classes in music also helps children deal better with their studies. Children exposed to music have better performance in other subjects such as math and science. Aside from exercising the brain, taking classes in music also helps develop a child's confidence. This is very important in the future. When children become confident, they will have better adjustment in the professional field. Since a child's potential is maximized, their future is somewhat better with music. The main benefit as mentioned is the development of creativity. Although it might not be evident or very advantageous at a young age, later on parents will see the effects of such class. Creativity is greatly needed in almost every field imaginable. For instance, in advertising and architecture, you always have to think of new ways to do things and to present things. Having a creative mind gives anyone a competitive advantage over everyone else.
